A NEW "BUZZING BEE" IN THE FEAT. SOCK CO. SHOP.

- By Shakiera Stemmet - So, as previous blogposts were by Sima, Kaylin and Chelsey (aka. 'Boss Lady', as Sima would say), I, Shakiera, am the new blogger on board! I am so blog excited. I'm not "Shakira Shakira" of 'Hips don't lie')...it's the ordinary, young lady that joined the FEAT. sock co. family in December 2018. I've been warmly welcomed by Chelsey and Storme (Chelsey's assistant), and I love it here! Today, I have already been part of FEAT. sock co. for two months. I'm working in their cute, sock shop in Muizenberg, Cape Town, as an intern until March 2019 (when Storme has to sadly leave us to journey off on her teaching adventures and I take on a...

COLLABS ARE FUN!

- By Chelsey Wilson - At FEAT. sock co., 'collaboration' is a well-used word. We collaborate as much as we can, not only because we love it, but because we believe it's a foundational value that grows small businesses, challenges creativity, and opens up new avenues to expand our skills and fields of opportunity. Through the collaboration process, we get to make new friends and learn from fellow designers and illustrators who we might not have crossed paths with before. The friendship though, that's one of my favourite parts! It was through collaboration that I had a sleeper couch to stay on, on a recent trip to Hamburg. And it was through collaboration, that I had the most marvellous tour...

AN ICELANDIC ADVENTURE

Wow, I cannot believe it's been nearly 6 months since our last journal entry. It feels like just the other day Kaylin came to intern with FEAT. sock co. The second half of 2017 was just a massive whirlwind of exciting adventure and hard work. What better way to celebrate an updated journal, than by telling you about our most recent sock collection, inspired by a breathtaking adventure that I had been dreaming about for at least four (maybe five) years. I think ever since I first opened up my Pinterest account, I had been drooling over pictures of beautiful Iceland. The unfamiliar and untouched natural beauty and wide open spaces, along with the cute, cabin-like architecture and the idea...

MY INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE

By Kaylin Pond Over the past three weeks I have been surrounded by the colourful and uniquely creative world of FEAT. socks co.   Starting out I wasn’t sure what to expect but it has been quite an exciting experience learning the ins-and-outs of this funky business. As a fashion student there is a wide range of possible careers that we have to consider and choose to go into, one of those options is to venture out and start your own business. Me, knowing the very basics of what it takes to set out on such a daunting task decided that interning would be a good start to widening my knowledge and what’s better than being around fun and vibrant socks...

"NEVER SAY NEVER"

by Sima Mpahla Since I joined the amazing FEAT. sock co. team (the cool brand that makes the happiest socks in Cape Town), I have decided to take on an attitude of 'never say never'! To begin with, my academic background may not be complementary to FEAT., but my passion to understand systems and my hunger to learn how a small business is run has helped a great deal. This past week, I was asked by 'Boss Lady' to model in a new sock photoshoot that will showcase our next range of socks. I was faced with the challenge of either declining the offer or taking up the exciting new prospect and seeing what might happen. I had all kinds...
