At FEAT. sock co., 'collaboration' is a well-used word. We collaborate as much as we can, not only because we love it, but because we believe it's a foundational value that grows small businesses, challenges creativity, and opens up new avenues to expand our skills and fields of opportunity. Through the collaboration process, we get to make new friends and learn from fellow designers and illustrators who we might not have crossed paths with before. The friendship though, that's one of my favourite parts! It was through collaboration that I had a sleeper couch to stay on, on a recent trip to Hamburg. And it was through collaboration, that I had the most marvellous tour guide through the unique district of Gràcia, Barcelona, in February. I will be forever grateful for these collaborations, and the friendships they've forged and memories they've cultivated along the way.
So, when Britain-based illustrator and printmaker, Jake Hollings, contacted us at the end of 2017 about a possible collab, we jumped at the opportunity. Jake's design style is incredibly unique, and we had a sneaking suspicion that his bold use of colour and abstract shape would read beautifully on our socks. We were right! While the internet has it's downfalls, we can find joy in how it connects us to wonderfully creative and kind individuals, like it connected FEAT. sock co. with Mr. Hollings. Oh happy days!
FEAT. sock co. will be in London in May for the Pulse London 2018 trade event, where we will be exhibiting Jake's sock designs alongside the rest of our ranges. And I really hope I get to meet Jake in person, if the train schedule plays in our favour.
